A new lab is build at University of Southern California (USC) , we are looking to recruit PhD students.
Research program focuses on AI-integrated mechanistic modeling, combining tools from applied mathematics, engineering, and deep learning with quantitative pharmacology and translational medicine. The projects span from mechanistic modeling of disease and drug response to physics-informed machine learning applied to complex biomedical problems. For this reason, I am especially interested in students with training in chemical engineering, biomedical engineering, applied mathematics, physics, or computer science, and with a strong willingness to explore modeling and machine learning applications in pharmaceutical and biomedical research.
USC is one of the leading private research universities in the United States, with a strong reputation in health sciences, engineering, and computer science. My lab is based at the Health Sciences Campus in Los Angeles, which is home to the School of Pharmacy, School of Medicine, and multiple hospitals, offering a highly collaborative biomedical environment. I would also be very open to a trial period through a co-advised master’s at UNINA, with the understanding that for their PhD they would formally enroll at USC in the School of Pharmacy and join my lab directly. This pathway worked extremely well in the past to ensure alignment of interests and skills before committing to the longer PhD track.
