Organic-Inorganic Hybrids

sem1A new hybrid based on polyurethane foam and cement has beed designed, produced and characterized. In particular, in order to achieve properties of the two phases, the polyurethane formulation, the composition and the processing has been designed in order to achieve co-continuity between the polymeric and the inorganic phases. The new material, also addressed to as a Hydration-Induced Reinforced Polymer–Cement foam shows stiffness and strength typical of inorganic materials and density and insulating properties typical of polymeric foams.
